Choral Masterworks for the Season

On December 13-14, 2025 the Chorale presented masterworks by German composers, performed on period instruments with distinguished soloists directed by Maestro Jason C. Tramm.

The program featured the youthful brilliance and contrapuntal vitality of Handel’s Dixit Dominus, alongside three motets by Michael Praetorius, Johannes Brahms, and Felix Mendelssohn, offering unique perspectives on the sacred choral tradition across centuries.

It concluded with the luminous Herr, wenn die stolzen Feinde schnauben from J.S. Bach’s Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248), a work of festive grandeur that epitomizes the richness of Lutheran baroque music.

The program offered a rare opportunity to experience these cornerstones of the choral canon in historically informed style, illuminating their expressive power and enduring resonance.
